HighMarks Program 2006
HAWTHORN FC AND VICTORIAN COUNTRY FOOTBALL LEAGUEAussie Bodies has contributed to the Hawthorn Football Club's HighMarks program for 2006. The HighMarks Program is a youth development program promoting positive choices and behaviour among teenage boys from country Victoria and Tasmania.
Going into its fourth year, the program aims to teach adolescents to make positive choices. It provides them with positive leadership skills, mentoring, motivation and positive influences they can impart upon peers and the wider community.
Participants must be nominated by their local football club or league and are chosen not only on football ability, but for displaying positive traits such as leadership and dedication.
Six Hawthorn players will each mentor two of the young adults during the four-day program. In 2006 Sam Mitchell, Luke Hodge, Trent Croad, Peter Everitt, John Barker and Shane Crawford are responsible for teaching the participants important skills including coping with stress, overcoming adversity and working hard to achieve goals.
The participants will spend four days of exclusive involvement in many of the aspects of an AFL footballers' life. The program includes intensive training sessions with the strength and fitness coaching staff, lectures from the dietician, recruiting manager and senior coach.
The boys received an individual protein pack, which contained a selection of the Hawks favourite Aussie Bodies products. The packs contained Protein Revivals, Protein FX bars, Protein Break and PC's. Lisa Sutherland taught the participants of the importance of sports nutrition to reach their individual goals, the best way to incorporate Aussie Bodies products into their diet, around training and game day.
The HighMarks Program is an experience of a lifetime for the 13 young adults and will assist in promoting positive choices in their lives, their local community, peers and beyond.
