Allergic conjunctivitis

Allergic conjunctivitis is inflammation of the conjuctiva (mucous membranes lining the eyelid sclera and eyelid surfaces) caused by allergy. In the mildest form the conjunctiva becomes inflamed in response to an allergen. The most severe of cases include blinding complications. Other allergies such as asthma or eczema are usually implicated in allergic conjunctivitis.
