Cyclo-oxygenase

Coclo-oxygenase is an enzyme that acts on an unsaturated fatty acid found in most animal fats, (arachidonic acid) to form prostaglandins; powerful stimulants of pain nerve cells. It can be inhibited by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (otherwise known as COX-2 inhibitors).
