Free Radicals

Free radicals are usually oxygen-based molecules produced by the body's metabolism as a result of ingested pollution, smoking, alcohol or a diet high in processed sugars and fats. Left unchecked, free radicals cause damage to cell membranes, fat molecules and DNA, leading to weakened immune defence and an increase in the visible signs of ageing. Nutrients which help combat free radical damage are known as antioxidants. The scientific community has built a strong case for antioxidants green tea, Vitamins A, C and E, selenium, pine bark, grapeseed and zinc.
