Fungicides

Chemicals and chemical compounds used to prevent moulds growing on crops or food products by killing fungal spores. Organic farming prohibits their use. However, where the whole crop might otherwise be lost to something like mildew, small amounts of traditional chemicals such as copper and sulphur compounds may be used by organic farmers in some countries. This practise is restricted to extreme cases and permission must be granted from an organic certifier.
