Lactic acidosis
This condition is caused by the build up of lactic acid in the body. It leads to acidification of the blood (acidosis).
Cells produce lactic acid when they use glucose for energy, in the absence of adequate oxygen. If too much lactic acid remains in the body, imbalance occurs and illness may ensue. The signs for lactic acidosis include deep and rapid breathing, vomiting and abdominal pain.
