Lymph
Lymph refers to a transparent usually slightly yellow opalescent liquid found within lymphatic vessels and collected from tissues in all parts of the body; which is returned to the blood via the lymphatic system. Lymph is approximately 95 per cent water; the remainder being plasma proteins and other chemical substances contained in the blood. Its cellular component consists mainly of lymphocytes.
Lymph and the lymphatic system are involved in protecting the body from invading organisms and therefore in maintaining optimum immunity.
