Minerals
Minerals form the hard bony structure of the body. They also function to support chemical reactions in the body, regulating water balance, and nerve response and muscle contraction.
There are two categories of minerals; major or trace.
Major minerals are needed in large quantities. They include calcium, phosphorous, magnesium, potassium, sodium, chlorine, iron and sulphur.
Trace minerals are also termed as elements. There are at least 17 of these and while they are necessary for the human body, amounts fluctuate given the smaller dosages required. The most researched are zinc, copper, iodine, fluorine, manganese, chromium, selenium, molybdenum and cobalt.
