Tea time - reasons for pouring yourself another cuppa

Tuesday, May 27, 2008

This winter there has never been more reason to sit down and enjoy a cup of tea as a toast for good health...  For instance:

  • just 2 cups of black tea contain the equivalent antioxidants from 7 glasses of orange juice
  • regular tea drinkers lower their fatal heart attack risk by 70%, compared to non-tea drinkers
  • the risk of developing kidney stones is lowered 14% with each daily 235ml cup of tea
  • the average amount of caffeine in a cup of tea is 10-50mg – a third to half the amount in coffee. The daily recommended daily limit for caffeine intake is 600mg
  • studies show 63.7% fewer cavities formed in hamsters' teeth when fed black tea extract
  • it only takes 3 minutes for antioxidants to be released from tea bags or leaves (don't put milk in before this!)
  • 2750,000 cups of tea are enjoyed worldwide every single day. The percentage of those that are drunk in Australia is only 0.4%.

Healtheries has a wide range of herbal and black tea to suit your every health need and desire in taste. Why not try a cuppa today?!
