TRIATHLON

Over three hundred women, many of whom had previously never set foot on a training track, recently participated in the annual All Women's Triathlon at Yarralumla Bay in Canberra.

The women, many of whom are members of the Canberra-based women's community fitness group Females in Training (FIT), took part in the 400 metre swim / 18 km cycle / 4 km run cheered on by friends, family and relatives and fuelled with Aussie Bodies AM and PM Bars and Start The Day breakfast-to-go UHT drinks.

According to FIT organiser Jane Smith, the group is unique in that it's designed to encourage women of all ages, fitness levels and abilities to get into regular exercise in a safe, non-threatening and friendly environment.

"FIT has changed the lives of many women in terms of their fitness and self-esteem and it's terrific to see companies like Aussie Bodies getting behind them and lending support," she said.

"One of the women actually started exercising for the first time in her life during the training program in the lead up to the event!"

Applauding the participants, Aussie Bodies CEO Maria Deveson Crabbe said she particularly admired those who were discovering exercise later in life.

"It just goes to show that regardless of age and past experience, it's never too late to start eating right and exercising," she said.

"At Aussie Bodies we're committed to helping people achieve their personal fitness and weight-loss goals, so it was natural for us to sponsor an event such as this. We were also delighted that we could make our new Trim range available to the participants," she said.
