Sydney Kings 2005
NBLNBL's Sydney Kings, fuelled by Aussie Bodies, recently created history with their third straight championship title, the first team to do so in Australian basketball.
The defeat of Wollongong Hawks in three straight games also makes official coach Brian Goorjian's status as the most successful sporting coach in the Asia Pacific region.
Before the three-peat, Goorjian won two titles with South East Melbourne (1992, 1996) and made five other grand finals, including four in a row between 1997 and 2000.
Goorjian has always made protein a big part of team preparation. This year the Kings were again fuelled by Protein Revival and Protein FX, adding Lo-Carb Protein Revival to the nutrition program.
The 2005 champions overcame far greater adversity than the 2003 and 2004 heroes. They lost their entire starting backcourt and backup centre for extended periods, and grappled with import talent issues. Goorjian often said: "This team has more warts than any other I've coached."
