by Daniel Lynch, Melbourne Tigers High Performance Manager.

Basketball is a dynamic, anaerobic, power sport and for the Melbourne Tigers, the range of high quality Aussie Bodies products have become the cornerstone of our complementary nutrition program.

Protein is an important nutritional requirement that has become a necessity for our athletes on a daily basis.

Aussie Bodies Whey Protein Concentrate, contains vital amino-acids which are the building blocks of the players' bodies, playing a major role in cell reparation to build and repair muscles and bones.

The recent development of the Aussie Bodies Time Release protein formula has been exceptional in providing an ongoing source of energy for the players.

More specifically, Time Release, has been the answer to meeting the needs of the athletes during long downtime periods following training sessions or domestic travel within Australia and internationally.

Time Release has become a vital component of the diet and nutrition program for our players. It provides a slow release of protein to the body which is crucial following a demanding four hour training session or playing back-to-back games over a 24 hour period.

At times, the team may even travel to four cities and play as many as three games in a seven day period.

Over the next eight days during the semi finals, the team will be involved in at least three 2 hour training sessions, up to 3 games, eight hours of travel and one practice game.

Aussie Bodies products therefore play a significant role in assisting the players with recovery and regeneration.

The Melbourne Tigers players are 30.1 years of age on average, including five players over 30 and one over 40 (for the 2007/08 season), therefore any benefit we can acquire to aid recovery is extremely important.

The Time Release protein formula has become a high performance tool that we use to assist us in meeting these recovery needs and gaining an advantage on the opposition.

Aussie Bodies has played a key role in the High Performance Program for the Melbourne Tigers and has produced some excellent physiological changes in the playing group throughout 2005/06, 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons.
