My energy levels fluctuate throughout the day, what should I do to remedy this?

Fluctuations in blood sugar levels are characterised by mid-afternoon fatigue, headaches, poor concentration or fatigue if a meal is late or missed.

Avoid foods containing sugar, caffeine and refined carbohydrates. Reliance on these stimulants will result in a slight increase in energy followed by a greater energy dip post sugar fix. The best way to maintain stable blood sugar levels is to eat small frequent meals (5-6 daily) providing protein, low glycaemic index complex carbohydrate foods, wholegrains, nuts, seeds and subtropical fruit.

Insufficient pancreatic function may be due to a deficiency in the mineral chromium. Poor sugar economy may be regulated with a combination of chromium and dietary modification.
