Is organic better for the environment?
BY NATASHA ZAMBURROHealthy soil is the foundation for growing healthy food. It is on this foundation that the organic farming system is built. Organic systems work in harmony with nature, helping to keep land, water and air free from harmful chemicals and creating an environment rich in wildlife, wetlands and other natural areas. Organic farming uses less water, no artificial chemicals and fertilisers and emits fewer greenhouse gases, thereby contributing less of a chemical and resource burden on our planet.
