Put the bite on your sweet tooth

Having a sweet tooth often feels like being guardian of a child who can never get enough of something and won't take no for an answer! This fondness for sweet things sees no reason or reservation when it comes to satisfying itself. It's as bad, if not worse, than the craving for nicotine that smokers feel.
So what can be done to manage your sweet tooth? Firstly it is advisable to drink fluids. Often thirst can be confused for hunger. So the foremost priority is to have a glass of water. Should your hunger persist, it is most likely your body doesn't need a chocolate bar, but a wholesome portion of food high in protein, fibre & other essential nutrients. The Aussie Bodies Slim range offer you a choice between the Trim Low-GI high-protein bar or protein shake, Aussie Bodies Start the Day or Low-Carb Protein Revival drinks, and the Trim Anytime Protein powder or Trim Pure Soy Protein if you prefer a dairy free option.
The following reminders might also act as additional ammunition against attacks by the sweet tooth monster:
- Eat regular meals, don't skip breakfast
- Graze on small high protein meals rather than allowing your blood-sugar levels to drop, which is when the sweet tooth really kicks in.
- Remove sweet treats from desk/cupboards/car etc. If junk food isn't around, it can't get in your mouth!
- Manage stress – don't use food as a distraction. If you're stressed, take a walk. If you're upset, talk to a friend you can trust. If you're bored, get out of the house. A change of scenery might make you forget your hunger.
- Exercise is the best antidote – when you exercise your body breaks down glycogen and releases glucose molecules into your bloodstream, effectively giving you a natural sugar boost.
Finally, you may benefit from nutritional or herbal supplementation. And never forget the therapeutic effect of herbal tea.
Healtheries Naturally Slim Herbal Tea is a fresh-tasting blend of tonic herbs formulated to complement your weight management program. It contains the herb Garcinia Cambogia; reputed to reduce appetite and assist with weight loss. The synergistic blend of herbs added to this formula will support liver detoxification and kidney cleansing, reduce digestive congestion, and improve bowel regularity thereby improving toxin removal. It is available in berry or lemon flavour and tastes great either hot or iced.
While metabolically, we do need carbohydrates as fuel for many physiological functions, if the body receives the support it needs it is entirely possible to banish excessive sugar cravings. For support in calculating exactly what percentage of protein, fats and carbohydrate you need as an individual, the Aussie Bodies PCF calculator is the perfect tool.
