When I get home from work, I add up the PCF for the foods I have eaten during the day and often find that I have already blown my carbohydrate allowance for the day. Does this mean I can't have any carbohydrates for dinner?
When eating with your PCF Target in mind, go easy on yourself. You will fall short or exceed your target values from time to time, but keep in mind that these are just general parameters that allow for some variance.
There are certainly high protein, low carb dinner options at your disposal. Don't forget that non-starchy vegetables do not count towards your carbohydrate target, so why not enjoy a chicken or beef stir-fry with a generous serve of veggies (and no rice)? A low-carb protein shake (such as WPI) would also be a quick solution. The Recipes section has some great low-carb suggestions. Don't forget: fun is the fourth food group, so sit back and enjoy your dinner!
To prevent a PCF "catch-up" situation occurring tomorrow, keep one step ahead and plan your meals the day before to make sure you fall within your daily PCF Target. Not only does this encourage you to stay within reasonable proximity of your target values, it helps you develop a PCF intuition for all your future food choices.
