I make a priority of buying low fat foods at the supermarket. However my PCF Target tells me I'm not getting enough fat. Can I be sure I won't put the weight back on if I suddenly elevate my dietary fat?
The principle behind the Aussie Bodies plan is balance. This means not just focusing on a single nutrient like fat, but having the most appropriate balance of protein, carbohydrate and fat. Your plan probably suggests reducing your carbohydrates, particularly later in the day, to encourage your body to burn stored fat for its fuel. If so, then you need to take in enough fat to both continue the stimulation of fat metabolism and to supply essential fatty acids - nutrients you need to maintain a range of bodily functions, including repair, metabolism and hormonal balance.
I recommend using mainly mono and polyunsaturated oils with a balance of Omega 3 and 6. You can achieve this by having avocados, olive oil, nuts, flaxseed oil, salmon and oily deep sea fish like tuna.
