My PCF tells me to eat more fat. Can this be any kind of fat?

Although all fats (or oils) provide the same number of kilojoules (or calories), they are not all the same in your diet. Fats are a source of both 'fatty acids' and 'glycerols' . Both glycerol and fatty acids are a source of energy for the body, but essential fatty acids or EFAs play many other important roles in optimum health. EFAs are found in both saturated fats (meats, dairy and palm oils) and in unsaturated fats (most vegetable oils and some fish oil). However it is the balance of the EFAs from the different sources that is important. You should try to obtain no more than about 30% of your fats from dairy and meat sources, about 40% from vegetable sources (olive oil, avocados, nuts and seeds etc) and about 30% from the Omega 3 group of poly-unsaturates (as in fish oils and flaxseed oil).
